Medical teams

For doctors and paramedical professionals, this training can fill the missing link and bridge the gaps in knowledge that are prevalent in medicine and in paramedical training.

The knowledge that is currently taught in medical and nursing schools is based on outdated scientific theories and data. Additionally, many therapeutic approaches reflect the understanding we used to have 40–50 years ago, and sometimes even more than that.

How will the course benefit me?

In conventional medical and paramedical educational settings, study programs typically include, at best, a week or two of learning about pain. Even in these cases, the majority of the curriculum is based on outdated models that primarily rely on chemical therapeutic treatments.

In more advanced professional training fields, professionals that see many patients with chronic pain often lack sufficient understanding or training in the field, as demonstrated by research (see Finestone A. et al., Spine, 2009). This situation results in many individuals who suffer from chronic pain not finding an effective solution that leads to healing.

In contrast, based on the most up-to-date scientific knowledge and research, we know that pain arises from a mechanism that is not only related to structural changes in the body but significantly influenced by the brain's activity and its impact on the peripheral nervous system.

The implication is that in order to effectively and fully heal pain, we must address all levels of pain creation in the brain. This includes thoughts, perceptions, and beliefs about pain, and associated emotions that either exacerbate or alleviate it, and sometimes even directly cause it. Additionally, we need to address avoidable actions that result in pain and can increase it further due to negative learning processes in the brain.

Understanding the biopsychosocial model and how to apply it effectively opens for us new gateways and paths to assist our patients in reducing pain and alleviating suffering. It also helps us guide and instruct patients effectively toward the healing of chronic pain.

Emotional Therapists

There are methods and approaches that teach patients to “learn how to live with pain” or “learn to divert attention from pain” and to develop or adopt a more patient and accepting approach to pain. Such treatments, for example Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), may be helpful at times, but their effectiveness is often limited and restricted, and they do not lead to the complete relief and permanent resolution of pain in many cases.

Complementary medicine practitioners

For practitioners in the fields of complementary medicine and manual therapies (massage, Shiatsu, Tuina, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, and various other areas), TMS training can bridge significant knowledge gaps and provide tools and techniques to enhance therapeutic processes and healing capabilities.
